This is something that can be a bit perplexing at first — especially if you come from a background of desktop design software. In traditional vector design applications, the way that you would draw a perfect circle is usually by using the Ellipse Tool to click and drag, and then holding Shift or Control depending on the application on the keyboard at the same time will lock the aspect ratio so that a perfectly round circle is drawn.
However, there is no standard keyboard on an iPad. The on-screen keyboard is meant for typing and serves no real purpose in a design environment like it does on a desktop. So, what is the great mystery then? We can create curves from some shapes starting from the shape Tool on the left. For example, we can use the crescent shape from the Shape Tool. For perfect curves, there are also other shapes to accomplish this. Pen tool P with repositioning off-curve control handles blue symmetrical lines and enabling rubber band mode can create good curves that look natural and organic. Corner Tool C is really a quick and easy way to create curves from pointed corners.
Like all good endeavors, it is likely you have to spend some time practicing and exploring before you get more adept at it. Your discerning, artistic eye can decide exactly how to adjust a shape to your satisfaction. There are two ways to create a shape on the blank workspace. Notice that there is a clear circle where each line segment connects with another one. Each of the line segments in the shape can be manipulated in a different direction or be made to intersect with a different part of the shape.
To do this, select the Node tool from the same toolbar you just used. The Node tool icon looks like an arrow without a tail. Your cursor will change to look like this tailless arrow. Start by clicking on one of the nodes, or open circles.
